Greed 2.0 from THE CODEX BBS, Atlanta, GA (404) 473 - 6173
Greed is a dice game designed for one player, who may optionally play against
the computer. This version of Greed was originally written by Fizban and Cregan,
for Image BBS on the Commodore 64, and converted to AREXX for C-Net BBS by Spike.
Files in the archive:
ReadMe - this instruction file.
_Greed2.0 - the actual Pfile door, proto version.
_GreedMaint - Maint mod, updates news and awards bonuses, proto version.
_GreedWelcome - mod for sys.welcome, displays new news during login, proto version.
xxx.GreedIntro - intro screens for ASCII, C=C/G, and IBM/ANSI modes.
xxx.GreedRules - rule files for same.
Install Greed - CBM Installer script!
Installation/Operation:
Unpack the archive. (duh!)
Use the groovy Installer script included to setup the files.
Follow the instructions you see to hook Greed into C-net's P-files, News and
AutoMaint, according to the options you've chosen.
Install Greed2.0 as a Pfile, for your users to play. Greed will create two
high-score files in its directory. When a player gets on the high-score list,
they will be awarded 15 minutes of connect time as a bonus. You may change
this value by changing the value of "bonustime" in this mod. A value of 0
will turn this award off.
Install GreedMaint as automaint. I suggest you have it run once a week.
GreedMaint will reset the high-score files, and create a news file containing
the week's high-scorers for both catagories of play. The high-scorers will
also be awarded download byte and file credits. These values are set for
100000 bytes and 2 files. You may change these values by editing the value of
"bonuscred" and "bonusfiles" in this mod. A value of 0 for bonuscred will turn
this award off. GreedMaint will also send the winners mail, letting them know
they won, and informing them of bonuses awarded (if any).
Add "Greed Winners" to your news files list, so that yor callers can read each
winners.
If you wish the winner news to automatically appear for your callers during
their first login after the maint each week, add this line to your
Systext:xxx.Welcome files:
{#0 Pfiles:Greed/GreedWelcome}
^--ctrl-Q, of course!
And, that's all there is to it! We hope you enjoy Greed!
